The Australian Football League (AFL) has outlined its ongoing commitment to grassroots venue development through the Australian Football Facilities Fund (AFFF). According to the governing body, the sport has partnered with local, state, and federal governments to invest more than $117 million into community facilities since 2017. This funding has supported nearly 3,000 venue improvements to date, primarily targeting the delivery of welcoming, inclusive, and gender-friendly spaces. For facility managers and local councils, the AFFF represents a strategic funding avenue to support the planning of upgraded community sports infrastructure. Consultation with the AFL's facility guidelines should be considered when developing joint funding proposals.
